A neighbor recently turned the big 4-0 and the neighborhood got together at the park for a surprise party for him! Originally planning on a beer cake, a captain and coke cake ended up taking form! But hey, a birthday booze cake is a birthday booze cake, right?? It was fairly easy to assemble. You just make a small cardboard base to place the liquor bottle on, then you surround the base with coke cans, and continue on to a smaller layer on the top tier to reveal the bottle label. Once you have it assembled, you tie everything TIGHTLY with ribbon or twine and decorate accordingly! And just be sure to carry the cake by the bottom of the cardboard base and cans, just in case it is not tied tightly. You don’t want it to fall apart on the big day!
And voila, your cake!

While it turned out neat, traveling in a car with it is NOT a good idea! I popped it in my trunk to swing down to the park and it rolled over, jumped out of my trunk, and the coke cans exploded all over the place…whoops! I recommend having someone hold it secure or building it at the party. Enjoy!
