My mother-in-law makes the very best buttercream frosting, and now you can too. Every year we treasure the special cookies with her buttercream frosting. Try throwing your finished cookies in the freezer for hardened frosting or enjoy them soft at room temperature.
Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
Directions
- Add the butter and vanilla into a mixer bowl and cream until fluffy. With the mixer on low, sprinkle in the powdered sugar until fully combined
- Add the milk and continue mixing for 5 minutes or until peaks are forming
- Spread onto sugar cookies or cake. Store extra frosting in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, just mix to make fluffy again
