Pink Angel Food Smoothie

I won’t name names, but I grew up down the street from a smoothie shop that had an eerily similar smoothie to this one- one that I CRAVED despite no longer living near the shop as an adult. If you also loved a mysteriously pink smoothie, give this one a shot. You won’t regret it. My only warning: this angel food smoothie is so delicious that it might ruin all other homemade smoothies for you.

Baby-Led Weaning Suggestion: If your baby is over 1, they can enjoy this smoothie and practice their straw or cup drinking development with a thicker liquid. If the baby is under 1, grab an extra banana and split it vertically into thirds (resembling banana French fries) by poking your thumb or knife into the center of the peeled banana top. A banana is a great first food! Age recommended 6-9 months.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c water
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 7 frozen strawberries
  • 2 tbsp nonfat dry milk powder
  • 2 tbsp Sugar In The Raw (turbinado)
  • 1 1/2 c ice

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients as listed into a high-powdered blender, starting with liquids, then fruit, and finishing with ice.
  2. Blend on high for 45 seconds until consistency is even and forming peaks.
  3. If consistency is too solid to move with motion, add more water and continue to blend.

This Pink Angel Food Smoothie reminds me of a similar drink also tied closely to memories: Banana Milkshake. Along with this recipe, the Banana Milkshake is a favorite summertime treat!
