Banana Milkshake

Some foods are tied so closely to memories, and banana milkshakes are one of those for me. I was meeting my boyfriend’s parents at their home for one of the very first times. It was a Wisconsin summer evening, and his dad made everyone banana milkshakes while we sat out in the yard. I’ve never had one before then, and immediately wondered why. The banana and vanilla combined was like a banana cream pie, but in a milkshake. Fast forward to now: that boyfriend is my husband. And now our four children love to have grandpa make the very same milkshakes. Simple. A memory in a milkshake.
