Bird Feeder

We love watching birds together, and making a bird feeder is an easy and fun craft to do with kids. Using a pinecone is a fun way to reuse the materials around us. But if it happens to be the wrong season or you don’t have any around- using an upside down Dixie cup works like a charm! This craft is simple enough to get even your younger kiddos involved. And it’s so fun to watch their reactions when birds feed from it!

Place your new bird feeder within a view of a window so your new birder can watch which birds enjoy their feeder!

Supplies

  • 5 oz Dixie cups or pinecones
  • 1/4 cup of peanut butter or similar spread
  • 1 cup bird seed
  • String or yarn

Directions

  1. Cover the cup or pinecone with peanut butter by spreading with a small spatula or butter knife
  2. Pour the birdseed onto a flat plate. Roll the covered cup or pinecone in bird seed until evenly covered
  3. Tie a string around the pinecone or punch a hole through the top of the cup and tie a string for hanging
