Thick Belgian waffles are a treat for a weekend breakfast and go perfectly with syrup, melty butter, and a dollop of whipped cream.
Belgian Waffles
Use the pancake mix outlined in Saturday Morning Pancakes and adapt for waffles.
Top with your favorite toppings. We love chocolate chips (let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), but you can add fruits or nuts too!
Ingredients
- 1 cup instant pancake mix (see Saturday Morning Pancakes for recipe)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp oil
Directions
- Set oven to 200 and preheat waffle iron to medium-high
- Stir ingredients together with a fork until large lumps disappear. Let sit for 4-5 minutes
- Spray oil onto waffle iron and pour in 1/4 cup of batter
- Bake until steaming stops or waffle iron lifts easily to reveal a golden waffle
- Store done waffles on a baking sheet in the oven to keep warm. Serve with syrup
Use my Saturday Morning Pancakes recipe and simply adapt! Or if you prefer pancakes over waffles (or have some kiddos who do), just set aside a batch of the instant pancake mix.
