Alan’s BBQ Chicken Sandwich

This classic BBQ chicken sandwich is a staple for us. This dish is one that I frequently crave because of the crispy pretzel buns with the delicious fry sauce. And the meal goes great with a side of house cut French fries, too. Not only is this sandwich perfectly quick for a weeknight meal or a lunch, but it also adapts easily to being kid-friendly just by serving the sandwiches disassembled.

  • Time-Saver Hack: Cook the chicken in bulk on the smoker for the week and use in multiple recipes and sandwiches through the week. Regardless of the recipe, this chicken is delicious!
  • To make extra kid-friendly, we serve sandwiches disassembled. If they want to eat plain buns and chicken- we let them! Or if they prefer only some toppings, it’s an easy fix!☺️

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts
  • Pretzel buns
  • Sliced tomato
  • Fresh lettuce
  • BBQ sauce
  • Carolina dirt BBQ rub
  • Fry Sauce
  • House cut fries

Directions

  1. Start by seasoning the chicken with the @lilliesq rub.
  2. Grill the chicken at 375 (We love using our @webergrills SmokeFire for a smoky flavor).
  3. While grilling, turn over the chicken and brush @blueshognation BBQ sauce on the upwards side. Then turn one final time to put sauce on other side.
  4. While cooking the chicken, cut @pretzilla pretzel bun in half, butter the inside, and place inside-down on hot griddle or fry pan.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, halve it to serve.
  6. Assemble the sandwich on the toasted pretzel buns with lettuce, tomato, chicken, and @freddysusa fry sauce.
  7. Finally, pair it perfectly with a classic french fry like the @alexiafoods house cut fries!
